La rénovation thermique de l’Hôtel de Ville de Garges-lès-Gonesse a permis une réduction de 40 % des dépenses énergétiques tout en insufflant une nouvelle identité à ce bâtiment emblématique construit en 1975, de style brutaliste.
The thermal renovation of the Garges-lès-Gonesse town hall resulted in a 40% reduction in energy costs, while giving a new identity to this emblematic building, built in 1975 in a brutalist style.
Its natural ventilation
mechanism is controlled by roof-mounted weather sensors. In summer,
these openings provide cooling air circulation to enhance summer
comfort, while in winter they close to create a greenhouse
effect.
The new glass facade not only enhances the original
architecture through transparency, but also serves as a support for a
media facade. The masonry parts of the substructure were
treated against iron corrosion and refurbished. Thermally insulated
from the outside (ITE), the facades are then rendered in shades of
yellow ochre, pink and beige. A discreet 140 m² extension extends
the « masonry base » so as to appear indissociable from the
original structure.

En mettant en valeur l’horizontalité des façades, de longues jardinières courent le long du couronnement du bâtiment, des nez de dalle et des acrotères. Les deux cages d’escalier verticales cylindriques sont végétalisées également. Une serre de cactus au rez-de-chaussée joue le rôle de zone tampon visuelle et acoustique entre les bureaux des agents de la Mairie et le parvis.

Highlighting the horizontality of the facades, long planters run along the building’s crown, slab nosings and acroteria. The two vertical cylindrical stairwells are covered with climbing plants. A cactus greenhouse on the first floor acts as a visual and acoustic buffer between the town hall’s offices and the forecourt.
