La restauration des façades des boutiques Claverie, icônes éclectiques du Second Empire (1860) et inscrites aux Monuments historiques, a révélé leur éclat. Nées d’une fabrique de corsets mythique, fréquentée par Joséphine Baker, Mistinguett ou Arletty, elles abritaient autrefois lingerie et orthopédie, au croisement de la mode et du soin du corps. La restauration révèle de nouveau vitraux, boiseries et moulures en acajou de Cuba, décors peints, enseignes dorées à la feuille et rideaux métalliques. Porté par le savoir-faire d’artisans d’art et soutenu par la DRAC et la Région Île-de-France, le projet rappel l’intense passé industriel du Faubourg Saint-Martin à Paris.
The restoration of the Claverie shopfronts, eclectic Second Empire (1860) icons listed as Historic Monuments, has brought their splendour back to light.Born from a legendary corset factory once frequented by Joséphine Baker, Mistinguett and Arletty, the boutiques once housed both lingerie and orthopaedic fittings, at the crossroads of fashion and body care. The project reveals once again the stained glass, Cuban mahogany panelling and mouldings, painted décor, gold leaf signage and metal shutters.Driven by the expertise of master craftspeople and supported by the DRAC and the Île-de-France Region, the restoration recalls the intense industrial past of the Faubourg Saint Martin in Paris.
